How to Change Payment Destination for Marketable Securities in TreasuryDirect

Help Home

Redirecting where your money goes when a Treasury marketable security matures — or where interest payments get sent — is a pretty painless process once you’re inside your account.

Finding the Right Security

Log into your primary TreasuryDirect account and click the Current Holdings tab at the top of the page. Scroll down to the Treasury Marketable Securities section, select the radio button for the type of security you want to change, and hit Submit.

On the Current Holdings Summary page, find the specific security you’re looking to update, select it, and click Submit again.

Changing the Payment Destination

This lands you on the Current Holdings Detail page. Scroll to the bottom and click Edit Payment Destination, which brings you into ManageDirect. There you’ll see a drop-down menu for each payment type — maturity, interest, or both. Pick the bank account you want the payments sent to and click Submit to save.

Got several securities to update? Just run through these same steps for each one separately.
