Pulling up your 1099 from TreasuryViewer is quick once you know where to look.
Open the app and tap the Profile tab in the bottom-right corner. From there you’ve got two options: tap the Tax Forms row right on that screen, or tap your user card at the top to go into Account Settings, where you’ll find Tax Forms listed under the Accounting section.
The Tax Forms screen shows every year a 1099 is on file for your account, newest year first. No entry for a particular year just means TreasuryDirect didn’t record any reportable interest on your account during that time.
Tap the year you want. A brief loading pop-up will show up, and once it’s done the form opens as a PDF in whatever PDF viewer your phone defaults to. Save it locally or share it from there.
TreasuryViewer lets you link multiple TreasuryDirect accounts, and tax forms belong to a specific account rather than your app login as a whole. Before downloading, confirm you’re in the right account. The Linked Accounts section on the Profile tab is where you can check which account is active and swap to a different one. After switching, go back to Tax Forms to download the 1099 for that account.
TreasuryDirect doesn’t mail tax documents. When you opened your account, agreeing to the terms meant opting into electronic-only delivery, so your 1099 lives online. If you earned any reportable interest in a given tax year, the statement will be available in your account by the end of January.
Log into your primary TreasuryDirect account and click the ManageDirect tab along the top navigation. Look for the Manage My Taxes section, select the tax year you need, and you’ll be taken to the Taxable Transactions Summary screen. If a 1099 was issued for that year, a link to it will appear at the top of that screen.
If there’s no link, that just means no reportable interest was recorded for that year and no statement was generated.
Tax statements for linked accounts won’t show up when you’re viewing your primary account. This applies to:
For each of these, go to the Manage My Linked Accounts section and log into the individual account to pull its statement.
If you’ve moved money between accounts that share the same taxpayer identification number, don’t expect to see those transactions on your statement. Internal transfers like these are non-reportable and are left off intentionally.
